Words of the week: A Letters of the week: S, T, N, R, L, D Reading: Our readers will be continuing to build their reading stamina by reading learn about the world books or nonfiction books. Students will learn the difference between storybooks and learn about the world books. We will practice our reading skills and tricks by reading nonfiction texts. Readers will begin to work with their reading partner to deepen their understanding of the books they read. We will learn and practice that when we are in partner reading we sit “elbow to elbow, knee to knee, one book in between so you both can see!” As students see-saw read and practice independently reading they will work on studying the front cover to predict what the book will be about and then read the following pages and revise their predictions as they read. We are so excited to see our students’ reading stamina grow as they delve into nonfiction texts! Writing: Writers will be continuing to write books about things they know a lot about. As we start the week we will be working on being brave and saying the words we want to write slowly to get down the beginning sounds. By the end of the week, students will be stretching out words to listen for all the sounds they hear in the word! This is hard work but we are courageous writers in Kinder! Throughout the week students will learn how to add more pages to their book and plan a book on their fingers before they write. The writers of our storybooks and learn about the world books don’t start writing without a plan and our students will practice this skill, too! Writers will have a chance to collaborate with their writing partners to add more to their stories. Partners will learn how to ask the writer “Who, What, Where” to help the author know how to revise their story.
** When playing Shake and Spill, please make sure that your child places all of the same colors by each other!** Science & Social Studies: Our scientists will be learning about their body parts and their function.
Students will label body parts, such as ears, eyes, head, mouth, legs, arms, etc. on the teacher and themselves! Comments are closed.
