I just wanted to remind everyone of the fever policy. Students must have been fever free (below 100 degrees F or 37.8 degrees Celsius) without the use of fever reducing medications for 24 hours before returning. So if your student has a fever above 100 in the evening they may not return to school the next day even if they do not have a fever in the morning. The flu and other similar viruses may last up to 7 days in some cases but it is important to keep student out until fully recovered for their safety and to keep the virus from spreading. They will have a chance to make up any work missed and the teacher will work with them to reteach any concepts missed. Thank you for your cooperation!! Codi Huff, RN, BSN What we are learning this week! Words of the week: was, and, got
Writing: Writers will be working on adding more than one sentence to each page. Just like our mentor authors, we can ask ourselves “What else could I add?” then use our snap words to make a new sentence. Before we add more, we always reread to make sure we know what we have written about, what has already been said, and what is missing. Rereading is a strategy that writers use often to make sure their story is ready to be read by others! Phonics: This week we will be zooming into the beginning sounds in words. Word Scientists say the word sloooowwwlllyyyy, catch the first sound, and then find the letter that goes with that sound. We will build automaticity with our alphabet charts by studying them more and more!
Science & Social Studies: We will continue to learn about community helpers this week! Community helpers are people that make our community even stronger and function well. We will continue to learn about each community helper and their role in our community. Friday is Junior Achievement Day! We will be learning about financial literacy and our community.
