Reading:As our books get harder, the words do, too! We will learn this week that one of our most important powers is one we already have… Letters and sounds! This helps us read the words on the page and solve unknown words in our books. When we come to a hard words we can use the beginning of the word and then think “What word could this be?” Our sound power is going to grow in new ways!
Phonics: This week we will wrap up our focus on short a and i in words and color in our shields! We now know short a and i so well that we can hear it so clearly in our reading and writing! We will begin to work with short e, o, and u.These vowels can be tricky to hear the difference so we say the word slow, really listening for the medial/ vowel sound, then record what we hear! Math: This week we are launching into a new numeracy unit! We will be focusing on the teen numbers 15-19.
Science & Social Studies: This week we will be learning all about important people and symbols to our great state- Texas! A fun book to read with your child this week is The Legend of the Bluebonnet by Tomie DePaola. We will be learning about Stephen F. Austin, the bluebonnet, and other important aspects of Texas History. Comments are closed.
